Hard Drive Recovery
Dropped, broken, water, fire damaged external and internal hard drives and disks are our special area here at Xytron labs.
Xytron data recovery services offer a full, complete and professional hard drive and disk solutions to a wide range of media and operating system including SATA, ATA IDE, SCSI EIDE and to all known form factors like 1", 1.8", 2.5", 3.5" and 5.1/4" media.
Operating systems Xytron can recover:
Windows 3.11, 95. 98, ME, 2000, XP, Windows 7, Vista 32 bit & 64 bit, Windows 8
Linux
Unix
Mac
BSd
Custom operating systems and all other file systems
Servers, Laptops, Desktops, personal computer systems, workstations smartmedia including digital camera storage such as Micro Drives, all spinning magnetic media and smartmedia can fail from the following issues:
Clicking or noisy hard drive or disk
Crashed hard drive
Invalid system disk
Virus
BIOS error message
Fire and water damage
Dropped or smashed external hard drive
Logical corruption to file system
Xytron data recovery labs will examine your storage media in our class 10 (ISO 3) clean room environment where an engineer assigned to your case will look closely at all components both internally and externally such as the hard drive PCB to the head stack assembly if required. If a failed component is discovered it is replaced then the hard drive is retested to functionality and moved to our cloning and imaging department where an image is created of the media from the begining to the end of the user data area.
Our engineers can work directly with this raw image on a hex level byte by byte if required and repair any logical issues the image is then mounted and launched to check file integrity.
If you are looking to purchase a hard drive or PCB for DIY hard drive recovery then please visit this site for further help and advice, they stock all components and drivemodels.
Hard drive recovery is our only business please call us now for help and advice.
Lacie, Freecom, Maxtor, Seagate and WD Western Digital hard drive recovery services are performed in our in house clean room, such issues as clicking or noisy hard drives which can be caused by the drive being dropped or knocked to the floor, our engineers recover data from such failure types.
Bearing seizure is another issue that our hard drive labs deal with, this failure type requires a platter swap to another good working donor hard drive, again we are experts at this recovery procedure.
Overvoltage is another failure type for hard drives, especailly for external hard drives as it can be quite easy to mix up power supply cables and plug the incorrect power cable into the hard disk and cause serious damage to the drive.
Hard disk recovery
Xytron data recovery labs offer all business and home users professional services to retrieve lost data to failed hard disks.
Internal and external disks for such manufacturers as;
Seagate hard drive
Maxtor hard disk
Toshiba drive disk
Quantum hard disk
Western Digital (WD) hard drive
Fujitsu hard drive
Hitachi hard disk
IBM hard disk
Samsung hard disk
LaCie
Freecom
Buffalo
IoSafe
Failure types such as dropped external disk drives, especially if the storage device is running at the time can cause serious issues to the internal components of the disk, such as platter damage, and head stack assembly damage, please do not repower your disk if you have dropped it, this will seriously degrade your media further, please call our labs for assistance.
Dropped hard disk recovery will require clean room skills and technology, which our labs have, in fact we have two units to deal with this type of error, and physical issues to hard drives are very common as the external storage market increases year on year.
Platter damage or a head crash as it is commonly known also presents serious issues to deal with for the recovery team, the platter damage can be caused by the heads coming into contact with the drive surface and ‘gauging’ or seriously damaging the surface, in some instances these types of failures can be totally unrecoverable.
Excess or wrong power supplies units plugged into external hard disk drives are another common failure, often causing electrical problems, such as burning the PCB or making the drive to become lifeless, this type of error will require our electronics engineers to inspect the disk, as often an excess voltage will go beyond the circuit board and damage the head stack preamplifier, which will need to clean room repair, an exact match will be required to be located and installed into the disk.
Some clients attempt to swap or exchange the PCB or circuit board in an attempt to recover the data themselves, this is not good advice contrary to anecdotal internet resources may tell you, some brands of hard drive will be rendered unrecoverable if a circuit board is replaced with a donor PCB, the problem arises with the unique information stored on each PCB which can either write to or be written from the SA firmware area, rendering the HDD obsolete.
Logical failure occurs when the file system, which could be Windows, Linux, Apple Mac for instance becomes corrupt, thus not allowing for access to user data on the disk, this can occur due to a number of reasons such as virus issues, bad sectors, or a weak or failing head, our labs are designed and setup to retrieve data in such circumstances, a software engineer will be able to determine at a hex level what the file system is, how many partitions are on the disk, and how to implement a successful rebuild of the file system and user data therein.
